VOLUNTEER

We could not do what we do without the thousands of hours of work donated by our dedicated team of more than 65 volunteers!

Thanks to their leadership, we are able to consistently provide nutritious and fresh food to those in our community who need it most. We thank each and every one of our volunteers for the work they do on a weekly basis. They are the reason our programs run so smoothly every single week!

We always welcome new volunteers, and we have a variety of roles you could possibly take on. Below are the positions we are currently looking to fill:

Leslieville Farmers’ Market – Sundays (until October 26th):

  • We need help every Sunday at the Leslieville Farmers’ Market (Greenwood Park). The following are needed:
    • 1 volunteer with access to a car to pick up our signage and supplies from Nourish East End and help set up our booth at the market (approx. 8am to 9am).
    • 2 volunteers to man the booth in the morning (9am to 12pm)
    • 2 volunteers to man the booth in the afternoon (12pm to 2:30pm)
      • Volunteers may sign-up to work both morning and afternoon shifts if they wish to.
    • 1 volunteer with access to a car to help take down our booth, load up the donated produce, and deliver it back at Nourish East End.
      • Volunteer must be able to lift up to 50lbs (stairs involved), and be able to operate inclusively and and sensitively within Toronto’s diverse East End community.
      • Volunteer may sign up to be both morning and afternoon driver if desired.

Drivers:

  • We need occasional drivers to help us pick up and deliver donations to the church during the following time slots:
    • Monday mornings (between 7am and 12pm)
    • Wednesdays (between 7am and 4:30pm)
    • Saturdays (between 8am and 11am)
    • You do NOT need to be available during the entirety of the time slot, nor be available for every time slot.
  • Volunteers must have access to their own car, be able to lift up to 50lbs (stairs involved), and be able to operate inclusively and and sensitively within Toronto’s diverse East End community.

Community Dinners (4th Monday of each month) :

  • We need help with the following:
    • venue set-up
    • greeting guests
    • take-out meal distribution
    • event photography
    • facilitation discussions between guests

Volunteering at Nourish East End is a great way to give back to your community while earning some volunteer hours for school! The Food Bank welcomes student volunteers ages 16+ during the summer months. Please check back in May 2026 for our available opportunities!

During the school year, students may lend a hand after hours at our monthly Community Dinners (4th Monday of each month). Please email communitydinners@eastendunited.ca if you’re interested!

VOLUNTEER TESTIMONIAL!

“Hello, my name is David and I’m a retired professor working as a volunteer for Nourish East End. I’ve been volunteering for over 6 months now and have really enjoyed the experience. It’s a great way to help others and to give back to the Community that has offered so much to me and my family over the years. I’ve also enjoyed being part of a terrific team of like-minded individuals (packers, drivers, admin staff) who create an enjoyable and supportive environment that make coming to work a genuine pleasure twice a week!”
