Former Nourish East End Resource Manager and volunteer, Brian Elcombe passed away on March 27, 2025 and was remembered with a true Celebration of Life on Saturday April 12 with many members of his Nourish East End and church communities. Brian was a beloved leader of our community—steadfast, compassionate, and deeply committed to the work of justice and care. His passion and faith has shaped our program and touched the lives of countless clients and volunteers. In his obituary, it says that Brian “found his mission the day he became involved with the Glen Rhodes, now Nourish East End food bank, becoming a tireless warrior for the dignity of the volunteers and clients.” In lieu of flowers, Brian’s family asks you to consider making a donation to Nourish East End or St. Paul’s United Church.

If you, or someone you know, is experiencing food insecurity, our market style food bank is here offering access to nutritious food. We are open every Wednesday 9-11 am & 2-4 pm.
We always appreciate volunteer support at Nourish East End. We are especially in need of volunteers with vehicles who can pick up and deliver donations.
We are always grateful for monetary donations. Your generosity allows us to employ part-time staff to support our volunteers and to purchase needed items to supplement our food stocks.

Nourish East End is a program of East End United Regional Ministry and a member of the Daily Bread Food Bank. We focused on more equitable access to healthy food:
We are committed to working with and caring for the diverse members of our community.
We are building partnerships that create a stronger, healthier and more food secure community.
We advocate for a society where no one needs to turn to a food bank for assistance.
Currently, our vision of food justice is far from the reality. Nourish East End feeds over 600 people each week. Food access is not equitable in our country, but within Nourish, we strive to create a place where all members of our community have dignified access to needed supplies.
Inflation and COVID-19
The pandemic and inflation have increased food insecurity in our city. In response, Nourish East End has expanded our scope engaging more volunteers, donors, and clients to meet the ever-changing needs of our community during this difficult time. Masks are still encouraged and supported within our program.
Nourish East end wishes to acknowledge the land we are meeting on is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. We also acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit. We are all treaty people.
