JOIN OUR TEAM

We could not do what we do without the thousands of hours of work donated by our dedicated team of more than 100 volunteers!

Thanks to their leadership, we are able to consistently provide nutritious and fresh food to those in our community who need it most. We thank each and every one of our volunteers for the work they do on a weekly basis. They are the reason our programs run so smoothly every single week!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

If you are interested in volunteering with us, please click on the links below for details on our current opportunities:

(NOTE: The list below is current and up to date. Nourish East End does not keep a volunteer waiting list.)

Community Dinners Volunteer

Nourish East End hosts a Community Dinner on the 4th Monday of every month. We’re looking for help to fill a number of different kitchen prep and cooking roles, greeting roles, cleaning roles, and set-up/take-down roles.

To apply to help us with our Community Dinners, please contact Anne and Dianne at communitydinners@eastendunited.ca, with “Community Dinners Volunteer Application” in the subject line.

Leslieville Farmers’ Market Volunteer Driver

From Sunday, May 10th to Sunday, October 25th, Nourish East End will require the help of volunteer drivers for the Leslieville Farmers’ Market (Greenwood Park). Volunteers will be asked to collect all donated produce from vendors at the end of each market day (shift runs from approximately 1:30pm to 2:30pm), drive them back to the food bank, and ensure their proper storage (staff will be present to accept delivery of donations).

Applicants should be able to lift up to 50lbs, or be accompanied by a partner who can do the lifting for them.

To apply to be a volunteer driver, please contact Marie at nourishvolunteers@eastendunited.ca, with “LFM Driver Application” in the subject line.

Leslieville Farmers’ Market Booth Volunteer

Nourish East End will have a booth at the Leslieville Farmers’ Market on the 3rd Sunday of every month between May 10th and October 25th. We need the help of a few volunteers to help set up our booth, talk with community members about who we are and what we do, invite neighbours to our Community Dinners, collect donated produce, and help take down the booth at the end of the day.

Shifts run from 9am to 2pm; volunteers may sign up for half days or full days.

To apply to volunteer at our booth, please contact Marie at nourishvolunteers@eastendunited.ca, with “LFM Booth Application” in the subject line.

Student Volunteering Opportunities

During the summer months, we welcome the help of student volunteers (ages 16+) who are looking to complete their high school volunteering hours.

All currently-available volunteer positions can be filled by students.* Students applying to help with our weekly deliveries, or with out weekly food bank market, will be expected to fill their shift every week during the summer months.

To apply to complete your volunteer hours with us, interested students should contact Marie themselves at nourishvolunteers@eastendunited.ca, with “Student Volunteer Application” in the subject line, and specify which position they are interested in filling.

*Volunteer driver positions will only be given to those holding a full G-class license, and who are over 18 years of age.

Group Volunteering Opportunities

The Nourish East End food bank is a market-style food bank; as such, we do not pack hampers to distribute to our clients. This reduces our capacity to be able to welcome groups who wish to organize team volunteering events.

To discuss how your team could contribute to Nourish East End, please contact Ryan at nourishresources@eastendunited.ca.

VOLUNTEER TESTIMONIAL!

“Hello, my name is David and I’m a retired professor working as a volunteer for Nourish East End. I’ve been volunteering for over 6 months now and have really enjoyed the experience. It’s a great way to help others and to give back to the Community that has offered so much to me and my family over the years. I’ve also enjoyed being part of a terrific team of like-minded individuals (packers, drivers, admin staff) who create an enjoyable and supportive environment that make coming to work a genuine pleasure twice a week!”
