Monetary Donations

As a local food bank we rely on the support of our neighbours to help neighbours in need. We buy in bulk the things we need the most, so giving a monetary donation is the best way to make your gift go further. Gifts over $3 through our Canada Helps page, receive a tax receipt (even if you give anonymously.)

Hosting an Event

Having a party and want to build in a food drive? Working with your neighbours on a massive yard sale and want to make it a fundraiser? Perhaps you are part of a community organization or business that wants to reduce food insecurity. We'd be happy to talk about how we might work together. Please reach out to Ryan at 416-712-6862 or email nourishresources@eastendunited.ca

How Donations are Used

Your generosity goes straight to those that need it most. The in-kind food donations you make are distributed to your neighbours through the food bank. Monetary donations then allow us to go out and purchase any food items we may need to supplement for the week and to pay the part-time staff who support our volunteer work force. Since the needs of our recipients vary and evolve, we want to ensure our inventory always reflects the cultural and dietary needs of every individual who accesses our programs. With your generosity, we are able to purposefully curate an inventory of food that is accessible to everyone.

DONOR STORIES

Cornerstone Studio

Each November, our neighbours at Cornerstone Dance and Fitness Studio hosted an annual Fitness-a-thon in support of Nourish East End! All participants seek pledges from their friends and family in support to sweat it out a series of fitness classes. This event is now our largest fundraiser and vital to our ongoing operation. Most of the participants also bring in food donations in support of our program.

COBS The Beach Bakery

COBS The Beach Bakery is an outstanding supporter of Nourish East End. Each week they provide a large donation of bread for our clients (as do other local bakeries including COBS on the Danforth) but they are also a huge fundraising partner. In the spring of 2024 (and 2023) we were their Dough-Nation Day partner with a portion of sales from their hot cross buns going to support Nourish clients.

No-Lo Beer Fest

On Saturday Jan 20, 2024 The Only Cafe worked with 15 local breweries to host the first ever Toronto No-Lo Beer Fest. Over 300 people tried out a great selection of local beers containing little or no alcohol - and helped raise much needed funds for Nourish East End and our clients. Thanks to Steve, Alice and all of the breweries and attendees. We had a great time and appreciate your support of our neighbours!
